...The Threat for Flooding Rains is Possible Over the Next Three Days...
In spite of the fact that West TN has been in a serious drought... the next 3 days brings a risk of excessiver rainfall that could produce flash flooding. A weak frontal bounday draped along I-40 along with upper level disturbances moving over the region will result in numerous showers and thunderstorms. The steering winds are expected to become parallel to the surface winds and could result in cells moving west to east over the same areas today and tonight. Those areas that experience the training cells could see torrential rainfall of possibly 2-3 inches per hour. This would be the exception! A little more common will areas that may get 1-2 inches per hour.
A general 2-3 inches can be expected for West Tennessee over the next three days. Be alert as you possibly travel into thunderstorms because heavy rain will cause ponding of water in spots on the roadway and will substantially reduce visibility.
