DISCUSSION: There is a growing signal for repeating storms to develop along a stalled frontal boundary that could potentially yield several inches of rain on a local basis across Tennessee, southern Kentucky and across the southern Appalachians into NC and the southern Mid-Atlantic States. During this period much of the southern tier of the country will have pooled rich Gulf moisture along with nearly parallel low level flow to the W-E orientated frontal boundary. Rainfall amounts today and tonight should average between 0.50" to 1.25". The main localized flood threat will come with training thunderstorms over a period of an hour or so. (WPC/WTWO)
