...An Accumulating Snowfall Expected Friday Night with Plummeting Temperatures...

A low pressure system will be developing over south TX Friday morning and track to southeast MS by Friday evening bringing some Gulf moisture into our region.  As this happens, arctic air will be pouring into the area as well. Precipitation is expected to break out by sundown Friday. The weather models have  been very consistent the last couple of days indicating an accumulating snow is expected to fall Friday night.

Snowfall amounts look to range from 1 to 3 inches.  One or two weather models point to some areas getting as much as 4 inches.  The higher snowfall amounts should be closer to the TN river.

Due to the recent mild weather impacts on main highways and interstates should be minor.Yet surface temperatures are expected to fall below freezing by 9 PM or so Friday evening. That will make for hazardous travel on bridges and overpass.  Overnight, snowfall will taper off.

Winds will be blustery Friday night with temperatures expected to fall to near 20 by sunrise Saturday...wind chills Friday evening will near 20.  Overnight wind chills could be as low as the single digits in some area.

At least a winter weather advisory is expected to be issued by the NWS later today or Friday morning. Stay abreast of the latest forecast with this event.
