...A Potential Winter Storm is Beginning to Brew...

The coldest air of the winter season is settling over West TN.  Meanwhile a vigorous upper level system is digging into TX.  This is expected to be a winter weather maker for the region.  At this time the computer models are honing in on around 1-2 inches by midnight tonight when the accumulating snow will be over.

Right now it appears accumulations will be on elevated surfaces like grassy areas, car tops, etc.  This is due to the warm ground temperatures from the recent warm days.  Temperatures are expected to fall several more degrees this morning. Precipitation may begin as ice pellets (sleet) at the outset then change over to snow by the noon-hour. This would bring the air temperature down to around freezing. At this time it appears that bridges/overpasses could get slick this afternoon. If more accumulation begins to occur than is expected, then secondary roads will become slick in spots.

Stay abreast of the latest forecast regarding this potential winter storm.
