...An Accumulating Snow Event on Thursday...

After a couple of warmer days beginning  today into Wednesday eyes are now looking at another potential winter weather event that will have the potential potential for significant snow accumulation.

Another arctic express will make into the region Wednesday night...with colder temperatures than this last event.  Meanwhile, by Thursday morning low pressure will form on the front in east TX,  The low is forecast to track into NE LA and thru central MS in to NC by Thu evening.

Early thinking at WTWO is for precipitation to begin to develop around 6 AM.  At the outset areas of light sleet and freezing rain and snow over the southwest corner of West TN. The precipitation should be all snow by mid-morning.

As is typical with this type of system there will be a band of snow develop on the NW side of the surface low as it tracks to the NE.  Where this band finally sets up will be where the highest amounts will occur. The latest guidance has this band setting up in the I-40 corridor.

Given we are still 48 hours from the beginning of the event...we will say that as of this morning it appears to be a 1-3 inch accumulation.  The higher amounts will be seen in areas under the snow band. We have medium confidence in the amounts but low confidence in where the band of snow sets up.

Forecast details will change every 6 hours.  Our next update will be mid-day.
