...The Potential for the First Freeze and Widespread Frost Exists Later this Week

The week ahead will likely see the coldest air the season filter into the region.  The door to Canadian air will be opening up for folk in West Tennessee with temperatures during the day remaining in the 40s and lows at night around freezing.

This will not be some blast that will invade the region rather it will be felt as the first of the cool-downs will begin tomorrow with the passage of a dry cold front tonight.  Highs will be in the 50s for some Monday.  The coldest of the air will be felt the last half of this week following the influence of some upper-level disturbances that will bring us a cold rain Wednesday night through Thursday.  As the system lifts out with its rain there could be a little wintry mix over the north half of the region Wednesday evening.

More importantly, is the high confidence of the significantly colder temperatures that will set the stage for overnight lows near the freezing mark both Thursday night and Friday night. Additional statements will be issued as needed.
