Tropical Storm Laura: Effects on West Tennessee

At 4 PM, Tropical Storm Laura was located 175 miles east of the western tip of Cuba.  The 4 PM advisory indicated maximum winds were 60 mph.  The storm should strengthen to a hurricane Tuesday night over the central Gulf of Mexico.  It is predicted to come ashore near the TX/LA coastline as a Category 2 hurricane. It will move into northern LA by Thursday as a Tropical Storm and then continue to weaken to a Depression by Friday afternoon near the Bootheel of Missouri.

Based on the current projected path West Tennessee will on the east side of the storm.  NOTE: this path could possibly change and result in different impacts.

Based on this general path...West Tennessee will see gusty winds, flooding rains, and a possible tornado or two.  Reiterating...these impacts could change if the path shifts west or east.

Based on the path currently presented by the NHC... below is the precipitation accumulation that will be possible from Wednesday through Monday.

Again the amounts depicted will be based on the track Laura takes. It could be more or less.

Additional updates will be forthcoming.
