...Arctic Air Assault Coming...

An arctic cold front will be arriving this evening bring falling temperatures.  The front will makes its way across West TN roughly between 7 pm and midnight.  There could be an abrupt 10-15 degree drop in the temperature within the first hour of so after the front passes any one location. Showers will be likely ahead of the front and rain will begin to taper off after midnight.  Before the rain ends there could be a brief transition to snow.  Lows by sunrise will be around 30 with no snow accumulation expected.

Christmas Eve will be quite cold and blustery.  Highs will only be in the mid-30s. Winds of 15-25 mph will produce wind chills between 20 and 25 degrees that will last all day. In addition... partly sunny skies may include occasional snow flurries...especially in the afternoon.

The skies clear and winds diminish Christmas Eve night. Overnight lows will be in the mid-teens. Christmas Day will be mostly sunny.   The arctic grip will continue on Christmas Day with highs only around 32 degrees. Fortunately, the winds will be light.

A reminder to residents of West Tennessee:  one needs to dress for the wind chill temperatures.  Recall that wind chill is what the temperature feels like to the skin when the wind is factored in.
