FLASH FLOOD WATCHES GO INTO EFFECT THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING


...FLASH FLOOD WATCH WILL BE IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH TUESDAY EVENING...

COUNTIES... Chester, Fayette, Hardeman, Hardin, Haywood, Henderson, Lauderdale, Madison, McNairy, Shelby, and Tipton.

* TIMING... From 1 PM this afternoon through Tuesday evening

* RAINFALL AMOUNTS...Total rainfall from the remnants of tropical cyclone Barry will range from 5 to 7 inches near the Mississippi River Delta to 2 to 4 inches near the Tennessee River.

* IMPACTS... Flash flooding could lead to life-threatening situations for motorists and individuals exposed to low lying areas or rapidly rising creeks and rivers.
